In the novel, this part showed how his treatment was anything but good and also shown reasons why. He was abandoned to himself whole time and neither the husband or wife had any expectations at all. In animation everything is happy go lucky. In the time of 1 year between the event of the fight and the competition all other disciples were forced into closing up to improve strength while he was the only one no one even mentioned and he was only free because his job was preparing food for everyone else.

He was actually badly beaten by his master just because his daughter almost got hurt by his friend.

You didn't have to read the novel to know that not1 characters good. Even though he is a choreboy The bamboo family has done so Little for him that they basically owe him money. Not only that but the patriarch is this lazy fat t*rd Who does nothing but expect all of his disciples to be overpowered Even though he sucks and never trains on top of that.

We can definitely tell considering he makes the senior train MC instead of doing training him like a proper master. Smh

Sigh, there is a little consolation, lol. At least it is far from being massacred as Jian Xian Zai Ci. That novel is a fucking hilarious marvel and one of 3 best I've read. Jokes cut out in 90% (the main genre is comedy, go figure), even after that the joke content is reduced from PG-18 to PG-8, MC character changed from 10x as shameless as MC from Konosuba to goody two shoes and fighting animations feel like you're watching geriatrics performing martial arts.

You're right about that. It plays towards his grievances and the fact that skill and ball (also the stick he found later) are demonic artifacts which are activated by necessity or anger. At this competition he is pretty much raging about this and the fact that after all the false signs from little sister, she suddenly drops a bomb on him like he is nobody and she loves the most talented one (the one who saved her, also cut out of animation and it already happened at this point). I guess at this point they don't have the chance and they'll also cut out when she betrays him when he is put on spot how he learned skills without proper access not long after this point in story when after all the claims how she will take guilt for passing him the skill she shouldn't. She doesn't say anything even when almost half of elders demand execution. And the reason was more or less her resentment on her being beaten out of competition while he won that round and continued. Little bitch is not a good bird in the novel, lol. As soon as her superiority falls...

In this competition he will go almost crazy in one of the fights when he will become angry at opponent which will allow him to actually activate stick for the first time and that stick is bichin' strong, Like only one weapon in competition is close to being comparable. And large part of that anger is attributed to the treatment he received after being accepted, because if he lost his treatment wouldn't change. Remove anger and he can't activate the stick, he can't produce competition result at least not without nonsensical breaking of the story

Damnnn, now that's some good storytelling, I wonder if he'll be able to be strong without the anger and hatred, if not then he's kind of trash in their terms (so without the staff he'd be significantly less powerful)?? So the childhood friend is actually talented and more powerful in basic form then since he's basically upgrading by his own merits.

And you could see the hints of her liking the other guy and her treatment of the MC as a little brother not anything sexual/romantic smh. I just made a comment about if she'll be with the mc or someone else and if the new girl introduced will be the MC's lover or his childhood friend.

Women can be treacherous, many men have died over women but at the same time I can't blame her for wanting and choosing the "best" candidate for her and future children. Women have always chosen the physically strongest (including tallest + other), most powerful, high ranking/high status, wealthiest/richest, etc...basically the head honcho, the top dogs, the leaders, important people, kings, warriors. It was to ensure the survival of her and their children, and giving them a better chance at life, especially when blessing their children with superior genes of the fathers gifting them with whatever the mother sought out. Survival of the fittest is a lifelong game, and women still subconsciously have that wiring in their brains and biologically seek for the best choices to be potential mates to produce the best offsprings. Of course not always, since we're less animalistic than in those days but it's still there. Besides who wants the weaker, uglier, less talented and overall an individual less likely to protect and provide for their family. Who looks for a lifelong spouse in class F (full of failures, underachievers, unintelligent, etc...) instead of class A (full of successful, intelligent, winners, etc...) lol??

Honestly I think MCs skills are hindered by the fact he is practicing two separate skills or arts. It’s always shown how those two clash, hence he cannot make any progress. I think if he only practiced one, he would still be talented but maybe not like his friend.

Even though they ‘changed’ it, you can tell by the slight undertones. Especially when she butted in talking about him being weak and acting like a saviour, you can also tell the dislike from the father towards him. I wondered why the last episode annoyed me so much when she butted in, with this explanation it makes perfect sense.
